About

About me.

Well what can I say. Just shy of 2 years ago I stepped on a scale and realized that for being 5’6″ TALL and I stress tall…. ok I am short, I shouldn’t weight 279lbs. I got off my butt did a few things and managed to get in the high 260’s. That is when I heard someone talking about doing this Try a Tri. What is that I asked. Well it is a mini triathlon where you swim 400 meters, ride a bike 10km and run 2.5km. I thought to myself well that sounds like a great goal and not too hard to do right. I already had a road bike I used to ride and running just requires shoes and running. Swimming shouldn’t be so hard, I mean I am scuba diver and all.

So I took off to start running at the park near my house it was 2 km route to start. I was using the couch to 5k program online that a few friends told me about a bit of running and walking and I thought hey this should work. I mean I tried running the year before because I heard friends talk about this thing they call running and how it keeps them healthy and stuff. I laced up my shoes and got out on my road and started running. I ran until I couldn’t run any more. I was about umm 2 blocks from my house and out of wind and my heart rate wouldn’t register on the monitor. Frankly I couldn’t see it anyways the sweat was pouring off me and every time my heart beat so hard it shook my eyes and I couldn’t see. I gave up on running that year. Turns out to learn to run. You don’t go out and sprint as hard as you can until your heart explodes. Ok so now you understand my weight and fitness.

Fast forward almost 2 years. I hooked back up with an old friend from college by what I think was still some sort of karma after not seeing her since drunken college days. Found her on a triathlon site and she was kind enough to lend a hand. Well now I have been training with her since. The good days far outweigh the bad and I am glad I have her to train with even if we have had enough of each other at time.  2010 I completed 2 mini sprint triathlons and ran my first 5k run race. 2011 seen me completing 2 Sprint distance triathlons, several 5k races and my first ever Half Marathon. It also seen me sign up for this Half Ironman distance race, not sure what I was thinking.

2012 will bring with it a few more sprint triathlons, maybe 2 half marathons and my major goal of getting under 200lbs. Something I have yet to be able to do. I have gotten down as far as 207lbs and that was a push. But this year I will do it.
